Namesake + New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Hello and welcome to my blog!

First of all, let’s get to know each other. My name is Kaytlyn. This venture into blogging is a new and exciting adventure for me. I am anxiously anticipating sharing crafts, recipes, adventures, Bible verses, anything fun or girly and chattering about whatever is on my heart with those who will read!

My vision for this blog is to encourage and inspire a community of ladies desiring to grow closer to God, pursue creativity, escape our comfort zones and live an abundant and embellished life!

Namesake

Filigree Lane came about through lots of brainstorming, lists, doodles, and crossing taken names off of my seemingly endless list. I was confident that I would know when I had found the perfect name. My expectations for a blog name were: it has to have meaning, be cute and memorable, and not already be taken.

One night my mom, who is great at coming up with cute names, suggested the word ‘filigree’. As a lover of details, lace, and intricate lettering, I loved this word- and its definition!

filigree

delicate, ornamental decoration, an embellishment.

Now for the deeper meaning…

Just as I enjoy the little things, God focuses on them as well. During Creation, He systematically breathed light, land, and living things into being. When instructing Moses with the construction of the Ark of the Covenant, God specified every miniscule detail, all the way down to the gold filigree design that laced the top. When crafting His most precious creation -us- God gave every single one of His children unique details. He designed a one-of-a-kind fingerprint for each of the billions of people who have ever walked the Earth.

lane

a narrow path Β

To be completely honest, when choosing the name, I simply added lane because I thought it sounded cute. God revealed a hidden meaning to me. Romans 12:2 instructs “Do not conform to the patterns of this world. Instead be transformed by the renewing of your heart.” As a Christian, I am called to take the road less traveled or, the narrow path.

I am convinced that God wants me to focus on the details, to notice His fingerprint throughout the world, to recognize the little things that are so often disregarded. Prayerfully, I will utilize this blog as a vessel to accomplish that.

Thank you for reading the story behind Filigree Lane!
